Stepping off the Magic and onto Castaway Cay was an amazing feeling. The warm tropical breeze was so refreshing. I was really looking forward to the rest of the day.

You have two options when you get off the ship. The first is that you can take the tram down to the family beach or you can walk. We decided to walk for a few reasons. The first is that it would be a good opportunity to get some pictures of the Flying Dutchman. The second is that the photo op with Jack Sparrow is along this route and the tram does not stop at it so if you want the Captain Jack photo you have to walk. There are lots of other things you get to see when you walk vs riding the tram as well. It is a quick walk maybe 10 minutes total is you are taking your time.

I can post the high res version of these photos if you guys would like a better look at the details.

Mom and I were the first people to arrive at the photo op spot for Jack Sparrow. He wasn't there yet so we waited and took the time to shoot some more pictures.

While we were waiting my line buddy showed up. She knew she must be in the right place because she saw me waiting.

Captain Jack finally showed up and he was hilarious, his acting was spot on.

I was so glad that I waited to get my picture with him here on Castaway Cay in front of the Flying Dutchman vs onboard the ship on pirate night. Made for a much nicer and more appropriate background than the ship curtains. Also I got to be first in line this time around as most people were taking the tram or had already gotten their picture with him so were passing up the opportunity.

Great photos of the flying Dutchman you should post the high resolution photos.

I love your Captain Jack photos with the Dutchman in the background.

Thanks!

It was so neat getting to see the Flying Dutchman up close like that. If only Orlando Bloom was also there for a nice up close look.

It is an easy walk and very pretty. Sure the tram is "easier" but you miss a lot of little details.

I would forget to turn the key to off when exiting the scooter for pics and almost took out a line of small children waiting to see the Fairy Godmother.

I love the pics. I have never wanted to take a cruise but this report is making me rethink that. It looks like it was fun.

Mom and I never thought we were really cruise people either but we definitely are now! That said when we cruise ,while we enjoy the ship and everything it has to offer, what we are really looking forward to are the ports! I think I would be rather bored if I was just on a cruise ship for a week and never got off.

Also, for us, it really depends on the type of cruise we are going on. Mom nor I are really into the party till the break of dawn, drinking 24 hrs party type cruise. We want to explore new places and just relax with a good book by the pool on the sea days. That is why Disney is a perfect fit for us as that is the type of cruise experience they are catering to.

This is why I was never interested in cruises. I don't party all hours, I rarely drink, I enjoy a good book on the beach and seeing the sights. Seeing what the Disney cruise offers has really shown me that they offer more than sailing with nothing but water to stare at.
