I would forget to turn the key to off when exiting the scooter for pics and almost took out a line of small children waiting to see the Fairy Godmother.

I have rented an ECV the last 2 trips because I have some medical issues. I am actually on early retirement for medical reasons. My mother has never accepted this. My brother is disabled. My dad had serious medical issues but would never rent an ECV. She had me so PO'd today. She sees no reason for me to get one. I have no cartilage in my knee, arthritis & bulging discs in my neck and back, heel spurs in both feet, and neuromas in both feet. Truthfully some days I think I am held together by rubber bands. If I don't rent one I will be sobbing in pain by the end of the day. If I do rent one I will have to listen to her the whole trip. I seriously don't know what to do, except drink myself silly. That will of course start another round of problems as she is a total non-drinker. She gets drunk on communion. Now I understand why everybody bursts into laughter when I tell them we are going together. I am hoping a note from my dr. will convince her. This of course partially explains the title of my PTR. |

My IPod is set. My DD loaded my tunes for me. I will add more once she shows me how. I am not computer literate at all.
I do have to say my mom never ceases to amaze me. I walked to pick up my DGD from school today, forgetting that I bring a little friend home. The friend's mom takes DGD to school in the morning. This added about a mile or so to my walk. My mom called me while I was walking and the first thing she asked is how bad did my knee swell. She asks this but expects me to walk in the parks. ![]() I cannot get her to give me any idea of what she wants to do while we are down. I have not made plans my last 2 trips and this worked really well but we are down there for such a short time that I want to do a little planning. My traditional 1st day is always MK but it closes early because of grad nights so I am skipping it. I will have to wait 3 days to see the castle in the distance. I am trying to figure out if I can fit AK and DHS in on this trip. My mom has never been to AK so that is a definite. I am leaning towards that as the go to park on the 1st day. I figure we will have about 6 hours to see it. Now I have some back issues but my mom is a very active 70+ y/o. I know I want to take her on Dinosaur. She will not ride Ellen's Universe of Energy. She has issues and I don't push her but I want to see something with a Dinosaur in it. I definitely want her to see Devine. I am planning on skipping all but 1 show. Right now I'm leaning towards Festival of the Lion King as the one to see So because I think she may enjoy that one the most. I am leaning towards the safari, the jungle trek, the exploration trail and the walk around Oasis. I am not sure whether we will eat anything here or just split a funnel cake. My mom has some dietary issues - she cannot eat red meat. She is not a vegetarian but it has too much iron and I don't need her getting sick. I was thinking we could split a pulled pork sandwich or just wait until later that night. For the evening I am thinking of going to DTD and wandering around a little. I want to check out T-Rex and am thinking we can split something here. I have also never been to EOS and after seeing pics of the food there I thought that might be a better choice to grab something to take back to the room so we can turn in a little early. I never realized when I asked her to go on this trip that it would turn into such an adventure. It is much easier to plan things with my DH. I feel like I have to do so much more to make sure my mom will have an awesome time, that I'm not sure I will. I just hope AK is doable in 6 hours on a friday afternoon at the end of April. |

I thought I would do a little update to the PTR.
The ECV issue has been resolved. I told my mom that I am renting one. I do not like doing it but that she needs to accept that I have certain physical limitations. She isn't happy but accepted it. Two days after this I told her that I had walked to pick up my DGD from school and forgot that I had to take her little friend home. This added about an extra mile or so to my walk. Our streets are weird. You have to walk 6 blocks out of your way to get to where you are goping because they all horseshoe and cut each other off. The first thing she asked was if I was in any pain and how bad did my knee swell. She knows I can't walk and gets concerned on a simple little walk but wants me to do Disney. I am going to map out all the watering holes in EPCOT. ![]() My aunt may not be able to meet us now and this has me a little bummed. I don't get to see her that often and now she is 20 mile from WDW what better opportunty. She may not know until the last minute. I am really hoping she makes it to the tea. I booked that with her and my mom in mind. Mom is still telling me to plan things however I want. I decided that since we are there for a short period of time not to do the DP. Then I thought we have to eat so why not do it. Mom does not want to do any TS meals. She is not a big eater any more. I priced out the QS plan. I have decided against that also for now. My mom is not going to want the desserts. If she does get them she won't want the snacks. I still have time to figure it out as I don't make my final payment until March but this is so confusing with her. She also has some food restrictions that will make it difficult. She cannot eat red meat. She is not a vegetarian. She has a blood disorder that causes her to have an iron overload in her blood. This can be fatal if not kept in check so all foods with a high iron count are out. Food will prove to be a challenge too. There is a bar at CBR. I can drink. I will survive this. I am questioning my sanity at this point but I will need to find all of the watering holes. Drink will be my friend. ![]() If anyone has some suggestions or pros and cons of the QS plan I am open to all. Or a map of all the spots for a really good drink. I don't drink but I think after this trip I will. I am really trying to decide if the QS plan is worth the money. That is all for now on this adventure for now. But with all the snow we have had and are getting the though of warm weather and pretty flowers is getting me through. |

We did the QSDP in August for a long weekend trip and we liked it. It was nice not having to always keep a schedule we just wanted to wander so it made it easier.
